Domina is a premium action game that was developed by Dolphin Barn Incorporated for desktop. It is a management simulation set in ancient Rome wherein players will take on the role of a Domina that manages a gladiator school and trains would-be warriors for colosseum fights.

Similar to Gladiatus or War of Titans, Domina takes heavy inspiration from the gladiator battles of old for its premise and core gameplay. It also boasts pixel graphics and rather violent and gory combat to try to replicate the ruthlessness and viciousness of the ancient blood sport.

How do I play it?

Domina is an amalgamation of various game genres and gameplay elements that you wouldn't think will work but does. At its core, it's a management sim that has you taking on the role of running and managing a gladiator school set in ancient Rome. You then get splashes of roguelike aspect in which you need to constantly train and improve your warrior so they last in the arena.

Domina also has some RPG systems in place to provide you with more control and variety. You also need to focus on the growth of your warriors, themselves. You do this by purchasing gear for them, having them focus on specific battle specializations, and many other aspects. All of these, while ensuring they're fed, well-rested, and maintaining generally high morale throughout your house.

While battles are mostly AI-driven, you can intervene and take quick control every now and then for some twitchy, stabby action when you feel like you could do better. Keep in mind that this game has plenty of gore and violence not intended for younger players. Also, while fun, the lack of any narrative makes playing it feels a bit repetitive and tiresome after a while.

Gladiator-type games are few and far between nowadays, but if you've been looking for a good one to play, give Domina a try. It features nice pixel graphics, offers plenty of things to do, and is just a lot of fun to play for casual short bursts. Highly recommended.
